Il Professor Ranaa Almajal dell’Ospedale Moorfields di Londra sarà in visita a Siena presso il Centro di Riferimento del Retinoblastoma e il 3 luglio terrà un importante seminario sui tumori intraoculari dell’adulto dal titolo “Il melanoma uveale”. Il Centro di Eccellenza di Siena collabora da oltre 25 anni con l’ospedale di Londra con grande successo.

 

 

Rana’a Al-Jamal, MD, PhD – Biography
Rana’a Al-Jamal is a consultant ophthalmologist in ocular oncology, currently working at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. He worked since 2003 until 2015 at the Department of Ophthalmology, University of Helsinki, Finland, where he completed his training in ophthalmic pathology and ocular oncology under the supervision of Professor Tero Kivelä, at the University of Helsinki;he also obtained his PhD in ocular oncology and pathology from the University of Helsinki. His main research interest is uveal melanoma, retinoblastoma, and other eye cancers. Dr. Al-Jamal is also making an international career in ocular oncology. He is a member of the European Ophthalmic Oncology Group, International Society of Ocular Oncology, Eye Cancer Network, and member of the European Association for Vision and Eye Research (EVER), member of the Finnish Ophthalmological Society, Member of North of England Ophthalmological Society, British Medical Associations, Jordanian Ophthalmological society, and many other international Ophthalmological societies.
He was the principal investigator of thepediatric uveal melanoma study, largest study to date. He is activein international organizations promoting education and research in ophthalmology, and published many research papers, case report, and wrote a textbook chapter.
